The Sales Direc­tor is respon­si­ble for dri­ving adver­tis­ing and spon­sor­ship rev­enue through direct sales (prospect­ing, clos­ing busi­ness and man­ag­ing renewals) with­in a defined ter­ri­to­ry as well as being account­able for a quar­ter­ly sales quo­ta. The Sales Direc­tor will con­tin­u­al­ly prospect for new busi­ness oppor­tu­ni­ties, build strate­gic rela­tion­ships and secure incremental/growth rev­enue. The can­di­date must be extreme­ly knowl­edge­able and pas­sion­ate about online media and the web as a mar­ket­ing plat­form — espe­cial­ly con­ver­sa­tion­al media (blogs, Twit­ter, social net­works, online video, etc.), be detail-ori­ent­ed and have a proven track record of prof­itable sales, rela­tion­ship build­ing, and cus­tomer reten­tion. Suc­cess­ful can­di­dates will also demon­strate an abil­i­ty to lis­ten well to client needs and have the cre­ativ­i­ty to devel­op adver­tis­ing pro­grams that exceed their expec­ta­tions.

Responsibilities

  • Devel­op tar­get list and ini­ti­ate con­tact with poten­tial cus­tomers
  • Con­sis­tent­ly meet or exceed sales goals
  • Sell con­sul­ta­tive pro­grams uti­liz­ing dig­i­tal, mobile and social media prod­uct offer­ings
  • Break new busi­ness, work­ing through agency and client direct chan­nels
  • Expand StyleCaster’s pres­ence in pri­or­i­ty adver­tis­er and agency mar­ket­ing orga­ni­za­tions; estab­lish and cul­ti­vate rela­tion­ships with key deci­sion-mak­ers
  • Uti­lize all avail­able tools to expert­ly and prop­er­ly rep­re­sent Style­Cast­er in the adver­tis­ing com­mu­ni­ty, includ­ing exten­sive face-to-face meet­ings, phone calls, and email
  • Demon­strate out­stand­ing orga­ni­za­tion, prepa­ra­tion, and pub­lic speak­ing abil­i­ties
  • Suc­cess­ful­ly nego­ti­ate adver­tis­ing sales com­mit­ments, both for new and renew­al accounts, that are con­sis­tent with the company’s busi­ness objec­tives

Requirements

  • 5 years of media expe­ri­ence, prefer­ably in dig­i­tal
  • Con­tacts in the fol­low­ing cat­e­gories pre­ferred: Fash­ion, Beau­ty
  • Proven track record of meet­ing and exceed­ing rev­enue goals
  • Demon­strat­ed suc­cess at grow­ing rev­enue at a start­up or ear­ly stages media com­pa­ny
  • Sol­id con­tacts at key clients and agen­cies
  • Abil­i­ty to think and plan strate­gi­cal­ly
  • Demon­strat­ed knowl­edge in wide vari­ety of inter­ac­tive adver­tis­ing con­cepts, prac­tices and pro­ce­dures, prefer­ably includ­ing online adver­tis­ing tech­nol­o­gy
  • Intel­li­gence, pos­i­tive atti­tude, enthu­si­asm, high ener­gy, sense of humor
