The Sales Director is responsible for driving advertising and sponsorship revenue through direct sales (prospecting, closing business and managing renewals) within a defined territory as well as being accountable for a quarterly sales quota. The Sales Director will continually prospect for new business opportunities, build strategic relationships and secure incremental/growth revenue. The candidate must be extremely knowledgeable and passionate about online media and the web as a marketing platform — especially conversational media (blogs, Twitter, social networks, online video, etc.), be detail-oriented and have a proven track record of profitable sales, relationship building, and customer retention. Successful candidates will also demonstrate an ability to listen well to client needs and have the creativity to develop advertising programs that exceed their expectations.
Responsibilities
Develop target list and initiate contact with potential customers
Consistently meet or exceed sales goals
Sell consultative programs utilizing digital, mobile and social media product offerings
Break new business, working through agency and client direct channels
Expand StyleCaster’s presence in priority advertiser and agency marketing organizations; establish and cultivate relationships with key decision-makers
Utilize all available tools to expertly and properly represent StyleCaster in the advertising community, including extensive face-to-face meetings, phone calls, and email
Demonstrate outstanding organization, preparation, and public speaking abilities
Successfully negotiate advertising sales commitments, both for new and renewal accounts, that are consistent with the company’s business objectives
Requirements
5 years of media experience, preferably in digital
Contacts in the following categories preferred: Fashion, Beauty
Proven track record of meeting and exceeding revenue goals
Demonstrated success at growing revenue at a startup or early stages media company
Solid contacts at key clients and agencies
Ability to think and plan strategically
Demonstrated knowledge in wide variety of interactive advertising concepts, practices and procedures, preferably including online advertising technology
Intelligence, positive attitude, enthusiasm, high energy, sense of humor
Comfort working in a fast-paced, hands-on, rapidly changing environment
