Could you be the Product Manager for renowned Etsy? Etsy is a marketplace where people around the world connect to buy and sell unique goods. Their mission is to re-imagine commerce in ways that build a more fulfilling and lasting world. Currently Etsy is proud to be a certified B Corporation — a new kind of company that uses the power of business to solve social and environmental problems. Etsy is lovingly built and maintained by these fine folks who work in Brooklyn, Hudson, San Francisco, Berlin, Dublin, London, Toronto, and around the world.

The Etsy Product Management team is responsible for the vision and direction of a global, dual-sided marketplace that touches over 40 Million buyers and over 1 Million sellers. They sit in cross-functional teams, use data and user-research to drive decision making, believe in continuous integration, and love spending time with their users. They prioritize work that delivers impact at scale, is measurable, and is achievable.

You’ll help shape Etsy’s product development strategy and ensure the delivery of successful, new products. You’ll work closely with your peers in engineering, design, data analysis, marketing, business development, and support. This position is based in Brooklyn, NY.

So who is the ideal Product Manager for Etsy?

Well, you’ll need to set the product strategy, prioritize features, build consensus, and coordinate product (take a deep breathe) schedule with a team of engineers and designers to ship high-quality experiences to Etsy shoppers (whew, that was a mouthful). Next, build and maintain a roadmap to delight their users while growing the business. Create cases and user stories around a product and communicate them effectively. Integrate usability studies, user research, market analysis, and community feedback into product requirements to ensure products satisfy user needs as well as wants.

Inform product decisions with quantitative data on user behavior and experimentation (a/b testing). Facilitate communication throughout the development process by partnering with a variety of internal teams including marketing, business development, customer support, and community. Define methods and metrics for identifying success and failure while ensuring the team is clear on their objectives. Coordinate with other product managers and designers to ensure the cohesiveness of the overall user experience.

If these are under your belt, then all that’s left is if they like you as a person: 4+ years of product management / product ownership experience, exceptional written and oral communication skills. Strong user experience sensibilities and appreciation for minimal interface design, organizational and analytical skills.

HTML/CSS/JS/SQL and ability to work closely with engineers. Strong use of analytics, user research and business cases to drive decisions and improve products. Experience working for an engineering-driven company a plus.

What does Etsy have to say about their company?

It is important to us that this initiative is embedded in the larger conversation about diversity within our company. Etsy’s vision is for all identities and expressions to be welcomed, represented and rewarded in our 600+ person workforce. We want the people who are building our platform to be as diverse as the people who make up our global community. We recognize that having a diverse workforce creates a welcoming environment that encourages creativity and collaboration, ultimately improving not just our processes, but also our product.
