Is the Operator App a Media Game Changer?

Is the Operator App a media game changer?

Have you heard of the Operator App? In the old days, we consumers would go through the arduous and time consuming process of getting dressed, getting in our vehicles, and actually physically driving to a store – or several stores – to buy something. Then we had to park, walk in, find the right department, and then find the right product. And if the store we were in didn’t have the option we wanted, it was back out to he car and on to the next store to find it. Sounds exhausting, right? Then came the consumer’s savior – the internet, along with Amazon and other online retailers. Now we can stay in our PJs, save our gas money, and browse through multiple online stores in less time than it used to take us to get to the first store. But there’s a sacrifice involved, namely getting help. Sure, there are chat boxes, artificial intelligence chatbots,  and reviews, but the first is little more than a call center employee with little product knowledge, chatbots are just as limited with even less personality, and the latter probably involves many people paid to post positive reviews and other hired to denigrate a company…

How much Money can you make in VR?

How much money can you make in VR?

As a race, we humans have finally hit the wall. Reality just doesn’t cut it anymore. We need virtual realty ( VR ), augmented reality. mixed reality. It’s evolution. It’s progress. It’s what all the cool kids are talking about. And it’s about to be a huge business opportunity. Last fall Forbes reported that more than $4 billion had been invested in virtual reality since 2010. That actually doesn’t seem too overwhelming a figure for such a high-tech sci-fi type of enterprise, and it seems much lower when you consider that $2 billion of that was Facebook buying Oculus, the maker of the Oculus Rift VR headset that has been the talk of VR enthusiasts for the last few years but still hasn’t made a breakthrough. Then there was the much hyped but then much maligned Google Glass, the first really big thing in augmented reality, which also failed to make any serious headway. So should you investigate a job in any of these alternate reality fields, or are we still tears away from anyone finding anything viable? As is almost always the case, following the money is a good clue to the answer. Depending on which Venture Beat article you believe, the VR…

Fareportal The 3rd Largest Online Travel Agency You’ve Never Heard of

The 3rd Largest Online Travel Agency You've Never Heard of

Fareportal combines the best of the traditional world with the ease and convenience and technology of our new digital world. Here at Media Jobs we’re always looking for employment opportunities that are under the radar, those up and coming companies that the average job seeker wouldn’t even know to send a resume to. Today we’re taking our search into the world of travel agencies, specifically online travel agencies, or OTAs. You might be surprised to find out what a small world that is in terms of major players. Let’s see, first there’s Expedia of course. Then there’s Travelocity. No wait, Expedia owns them now. Okay, so there’s Orbitz. Except Expedia owns them too. Ah, Trivago. Owned by Expedia. Hotwire? Yep.  Hotels.com? Ditto. Expedia has pretty much swallowed up almost every major OTA out there, with a few exceptions. The first exception is Priceline, because no one owns William Shatner. The second is… Fareportal. Who, you ask? Fareportal, I repeat. They are now (since Expedia bought Orbitz) the third largest OTA in the world, and you’ve probably never heard of them. Of course the first thing that would probably jump to mind is that this fact illustrates what a mega-giant Expedia has…

Sprinklr is Up Close and Personal in a Big Way

Sprinklr is Up Close and Personal in a Big Way

What if you could talk to millions of people one at a time and do it in less than 60 seconds.  Sprinklr is the world’s first personalized scalable social media platform. Does anyone remember Tweetdeck? It was one of the first social media management platforms to be widely adopted by both individuals and businesses, way back long ago. Then they basically went under. In the last five years or so, social media management companies and software have boomed from a niche group to one f the driving forces in modern marketing and customer service operations. And the segment is growing more and more. But the focus has expanded exponentially. Tweetdeck essentially let you post to Twitter and Facebook (before removing the Facebook functionality and falling flat) and monitor your feeds with filters. Revolutionary once, less than the most basic requirement today. Now social media management must be holistic in its approach, because social media has gone from being a subset of the online world to the center of it. Everything revolves around it. Like the eye of a hurricane. Imagine the online world as that hurricane. Your emails, websites, social accounts, online software platforms, blogs, retailers, and so on, swirling…
