With firms buildÂing out their webÂsites, creÂatÂing cusÂtomized retail platÂforms and offerÂing online marÂketÂplaces, there has been a marked increase in demand for elecÂtronÂic comÂmerce proÂfesÂsionÂals. The demand durÂing last month rose by as much as 31 perÂcent on a year over year basis in comÂparÂiÂson to the July of 2011 and by more than 50 perÂcent from two years ago.
E‑Commerce skills comÂmonÂly required
ElecÂtronÂic comÂmerce skills are genÂerÂalÂly required the most in anaÂlyst, marÂketÂing and techÂniÂcal occuÂpaÂtions. Amongst the most comÂmonÂly adverÂtised job titles which require a backÂground in elecÂtronÂic comÂmerce include BusiÂness AnaÂlyst, Java DevelÂopÂer, MarÂketÂing DirecÂtor, NET DevelÂopÂer, Web DesignÂer, E ComÂmerce ManÂagÂer, Web ConÂtent ManÂagÂer, E ComÂmerce AnaÂlyst and Web DevelÂopÂer. SpeÂcialÂists who have expeÂriÂence with elecÂtronÂic comÂmerce are required to have knowlÂedge of parÂticÂuÂlar techÂnoloÂgies and tools, espeÂcialÂly when it comes to posiÂtions that will be involved with develÂopÂing softÂware and websites.
Some of the skills which are most comÂmonÂly required include the likes of Adobe LifeÂCyÂcle ES, appliÂcaÂtion manÂageÂment, busiÂness develÂopÂment, cusÂtomer relaÂtionÂship manÂageÂment, manÂageÂment conÂsultÂing, Microsoft PowÂerÂPoint 9, OraÂcle E‑Business Suite, OraÂcle Java and Project ManÂageÂment. ElecÂtronÂic comÂmerce proÂfesÂsionÂals are recruitÂed for jobs most freÂquentÂly in New York City, with over 2700 jobs adverÂtised in the New York metro area which were requirÂing this talÂent just in the month of July alone, a rise of 36 perÂcent in comÂparÂiÂson to the same time last year. OthÂer metro areas which also have a high levÂel of demand for such skills include cities such as ChicaÂgo, Los AngeÂles, San FranÂcisÂco and Seattle.

With the demand for hirÂing conÂtinÂuÂing, the relÂaÂtiveÂly limÂitÂed supÂply of talÂent of potenÂtial canÂdiÂdates with elecÂtronÂic comÂmerce expeÂriÂence is set to creÂate chalÂlenges for employÂers, with recruiters across the US spendÂing an averÂage of around six weeks adverÂtisÂing posiÂtions and sourcÂing candidates.
