Broadcast TV Technician, On-call
Reports to: Manager, Broadcast Technical Services
Oakville, ON
The Broadcast TV Technician will be responsible for the maintenance and installation of broadcast equipment. The incumbent will also provide technical assistance to The Weather Network television department.
Responsibilities:
In this position you will be involved in the day-to-day operational technical support and maintenance of state-of-the-art digital and analogue broadcast equipment. You will perform a variety of technical tasks, including:
- Technical support
- Maintenance
- Calibration
- Repair
- Modification and installation of different systems, devices, instruments and electronic equipment used in the operation of a television studio
Roles, responsibilities and duties may evolve and change over time.
Qualifications:
- Completion of a 2 year Technician program or a 3 year Technologist diploma in Electronics with a specialization in audio-video or a related field
- A minimum of 2 years related experience in maintenance and repair of broadcast quality audio and video equipment is essential
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (e.g., Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) is essential
- Knowledge of computer equipment, especially servers and OS (Windows and Mac) is essential

- Willingness and aptitude to work flexible hours, both independently and as a member of a multidisciplinary team
- Proficient communication and time management skills
- Proactive project management and problem-solving skills
Additional Assets:
- Knowledge of software such as AutoCAD, Visio, Harris, Vizrt, Hybrid, Airboss, etc.
- Knowledge of UNIX and LINUX OS
- Familiarity with digital media formats, wireframes and Photoshop
