The Social Media Mar­ket­ing Man­ag­er will be respon­si­ble for social media efforts designed to increase brand aware­ness and engage­ment in pro­mot­ing tune-in/stream­s/views for MTV World’s long form series on var­i­ous plat­forms. Cre­ativ­i­ty in con­tent cre­ation is an extreme­ly impor­tant part of this role. This includes social efforts that are part of mar­ket­ing plans across var­i­ous online com­mu­ni­ties and social plat­forms. You must have a com­plete and instinc­tive under­stand­ing of social net­works, new trends and how they can be lever­aged col­lec­tive­ly to dri­ve impact, loy­al­ty and engagement.

Who is the ide­al Social Media Man­ag­er for MTV?

You will be expect­ed to strate­gize, produce/create inno­v­a­tive con­tent, sched­ule, pub­lish and occa­sion­al­ly live tweet. Provoca­tive and com­pelling cre­ativ­i­ty in pro­duc­ing social media con­tent across mul­ti­ple social plat­forms – com­mu­ni­ty devel­op­ment of Face­book pages and Twit­ter pro­files, image and video shar­ing plat­forms (Insta­gram, Vine, Snapchat, etc.) and social blog­ging (Tum­blr). This per­son will also be respon­si­ble for man­ag­ing con­tent on the YouTube platform.

Man­ag­ing offi­cial com­mu­ni­ties across social media includ­ing Face­book, Twit­ter, Insta­gram and Tum­blr as well as social media asset cre­ation and man­age­ment with track­ing of social con­tent. Report­ing online buzz regard­ing pro­gram­ming. Iden­ti­fy­ing new oppor­tu­ni­ties for mar­ket­ing based on social media insights, exist­ing data and con­tent – and exe­cut­ing on these ideas to build an online engaged com­mu­ni­ty. Main­tain aware­ness of indus­try trends and the com­pet­i­tive land­scape, includ­ing social media best prac­tices, emerg­ing social tools, etc. and ongo­ing mon­i­tor­ing of peer accounts/efforts. Explor­ing new social media mar­ket­ing oppor­tu­ni­ties for MTV World.

Knowl­edge of Fash­ion, Film, Music, and Activism con­tent and rel­e­vant play­ers in these cat­e­gories. Abil­i­ty to act as a social con­tent cura­tor acti­vat­ing fan com­mu­ni­ties. Experience/proven suc­cess with social media pub­lish­ing and com­mu­ni­ty devel­op­ment, mon­i­tor­ing and mea­sure­ment plat­forms. Excel­lent ver­bal and pre­sen­ta­tion skills, cre­ative writ­ing and sto­ry-telling skills. Expe­ri­ence work­ing with Pho­to­shop. Moti­vat­ed self-starter and solu­tions ori­ent­ed prob­lem solver. At least 3 ‑5 years of rel­e­vant experience.
