Is Salesforce a Great Place to Work?

jobs at salesforce

Interacting with customers has been important for companies since the first business transaction took place, but Salesforce took that idea to a new level when they pioneered the first cloud-based CRM (customer relationship management) platform back in 1999 to facilitate sales automation and customer interactions. Twenty years later, the company has remained a leading force in every aspect of customer service and relations, sales and marketing automation, business analytics, and application development related to this entire field, helping more than 150,000 businesses run their operations more efficiently.

Praise for the Business

With current revenues reported at $13.28 billion and a workforce of around 35,000, SalesForce.com is a force to be reckoned with, no pun intended, in the business world. But beyond that, they’re also considered a great place to work, which is why you may want to consider looking into the almost 1,000 available jobs at Salesforce. In 2018 they were ranked number one in Fortune’s 100 Best Companies to Work For and have been on that list for 10 years in a row, in addition to taking the top spot in at least two other similar lists last year alone. The professional accolades don’t stop there, either. Other notable awards include being named on of the most innovative companies in the world by Forbes in 2018, one of the most admired companies by Fortune from 2013 to 2019, and their core product being named the number CRM six years in a row by IDC, from 2013 to 2018.

From the Employee’s Mouths
Professional accolades are one thing, but if you’re trying to determine why you want to work at SalesForce, the personal testimonials of employees will definitely be a more determining factor. Both the company and the CEO hold a very high rating from employees who have commented on Glassdoor. 97% approve of the CEO and 87% would recommend working there to a friend. Keep in mind that this is based on over 5,000 reviews.

One of the typical positive comments pretty much sums up the overwhelmingly majority opinion: “Fantastic company that REALLY cares about their employees. I’ve never been with a company with so many Employee Resource Groups that holds so many events and has so many perks for it’s employees. *Benefits *Pay *Resources *Amazing work environment *Amazing happy people”.

In terms of cons, they are few and far between according to employee opinions. As with most companies who are constantly pushing their limits and developing new ideas, one of the more common “cons” (and still not mentioned often) is the relentless pace involved with rapid growth. Yet in spite of the occasional mention of this, the much more often echoed refrain from the “cons” section is something resembling “I can’t come up with anything significant”, or “I wish I had started sooner”.

SalesForce describes their work environment and culture as their “ohana”, which is a Hawaiian word for “intentional family”, guided by their four core values of trust, customer success, innovation, and equality. While almost every business will offer these kinds of platitudes when developing their mission and vision statement, and especially when trying to recruit talent, the take of Mediajobs.com is that, based on the testimonials from current employees, SalesForce seems to wholeheartedly mean what they say.
